Racial Differences in Cardiovascular Function: The Role of Endothelin-1

About this Study

This research study wants to learn more about the regulation of the blood vessels in Black and White healthy young individuals to better understand the factors that may cause cardiovascular diseases later in life. Your participation will consist of three research clinic visits at the Clinical Research and Trials Unit, room WC753, over up to 4 months. In the research clinic, we will perform several research cardiovascular measurements (for example, electrocardiogram, blood pressure, blood flow, etc.) during procedures to test your blood vessel function (i.e., reactive hyperemia, flow-mediated dilation, blood flow responses to rhythmic handgrip exercise). In one of the research visits, you will ingest either a medicine called Bosentan or a Placebo, and vice-versa in the next research visit.
