2023 AAMC Awards
Winners in five categories of awards at the 2023 Association of American Medical Colleges Awards will win $10,000 prizes, commemorative pieces and will present a lecture at the organization’s 2023 annual meeting in Seattle.

AAMC award nominations now open through Jan. 13

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023 Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Awards.

Eligible employees may be nominated by their peers by Jan. 13 for the following awards:

  • Spencer Foreman Award for Outstanding Community Engagement – institutional award aimed at recognizing an AAMC member medical school or teaching hospital with a longstanding commitment to serving its community
  • AAMC Award for Excellence in Medical Education – AAMC’s most prestigious honor and aimed at honoring individuals or a team of two people whose contributions have advanced medical education beyond their own institution
  • Award for Distinguished Research in the Biomedical Sciences – individual award aimed at honoring individuals or a team of two people who have contributed outstanding research in the basic or translational sciences
  • Robert Wood Johnson Foundation David E. Rogers Award – individual award aimed at honoring a medical school faculty member who has contributed to improving public health and health care.
  • Louis W. Sullivan, MD, Award – individual award aimed at recognizing through their leadership a commitment to diversifying the workforce in health care.

Nominations may be submitted via the RedCap survey and be reviewed by the Rewards and Recognition team. That committee functions to understand and expand all various programs to make sure there is a robust set of award and recognition opportunities for all employees, said Molly Brasfield, chief human resources officer.

“We have an excellent opportunity here through our relationship with AAMC to recognize our people and brag outwardly about the work we do at UMMC,” said Molly Brasfield, chief human resources officer. “Also, our vice chancellor, Dr. LouAnn Woodward, was recently named chair of their board of directors. Her representing us in this national organization will help highlight the important things we do here.”

The first four awards each come with a prize of $10,000 and a commemorative crystal piece.The Sullivan award winner receives a medallion, a $10,000 prize and the honor of presenting the Sullivan Lecture at the AAMC’s 2023 annual meeting in Seattle.
