Clinical employees at the University of Mississippi Medical Center have a new, one-stop shop for the most important and up to date information needed to support quality care in the Medical Center's ever-changing health-care environment.
This new site is the “Clinical Intranet,” and it's accessible through the Medical Center's main Intranet page. It features quick links, with the goal to have one site which houses the information needed for clinical employees to do their job, rather than searching unnecessarily through various pages.
For computer workstations in a clinical setting, the new intranet will become the default Internet homepage beginning today, although employees may have to restart their computers for that to take effect. For workstations not automatically reconfigured, users can call the Help Desk to request that the Clinical Intranet become their homepage. To visit the new site now, click here.
Otherwise, the clinical site can be accessed from the “Healthcare” tab of the main Intranet.
“This site will place all things clinical at your fingertips and be a single communications focus for everyone who works in our hospitals and clinics,” said Dr. Michael Henderson, chief medical officer. “The goal is one-click access on the home page to all sites that caregivers need on a daily basis.”

This site comes from leadership including Henderson, University Hospitals and Health System Chief Executive Officer Kevin Cook, Chief Nursing Officer Terri Gillespie and Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs Dr. Charles O'Mara. Each will contribute personal columns and blogs on topics including the Medical Center's strategies on access, growth, quality, safety and finances.
Topics will include areas for improvement that affect all caregivers, such as infections, readmissions, and patient throughput. The site will also show the monthly scorecard with Medical Center data and progress towards goals.
“The site will bring important topics and events to the attention of clinical staff, communicate goals and priorities of the Medical Center, and provide transparency about specific projects and their progress. The page will also be a forum to air ideas and create dialogue with front-line staff,” Cook said.
“Transparency can drive improvement,” Henderson said. “We want to engage employees by giving them the type information they can use to pull together the big picture and help drive improvement.”
Clinical staff are encouraged to join in the conversation and offer up ideas on how to improve the patient experience and provide optimal care.
“Front-line caregivers know what we can do to get better and improve our safety, outcome and experience for patients, and to create efficiencies in how we deliver value in the care we provide,” Gillespie said.
“We hope that they will find the new Intranet site useful in their daily work, and beneficial in keeping them informed as we continue our mission of ensuring a healthier Mississippi.”
